BMT & TCT - What is Base Metal Thickness?

 

BMT refers to Base Metal Thickness, which is the thickness of the steel only.

 

TCT refers to Total Coated Thickness. This is the thickness of the steel including the paint coating.

 

Care should be taken when referencing thickness because some suppliers will quote TCT. eg. 0.42mm BMT is the same as 0.47mm TCT.

 

BMT refers to Base Metal Thickness, which is the thickness of the steel only.
