ShedSafe Accreditation

In March 2006 Cyclone LARRY struck in North Queensland causing considerable damage to many structures including steel sheds. As a result of these failures, Government Regulators and Building Certifiers called on the Australian Steel Institute to facilitate improved Standards by the steel shed industry for sheds in all regions of Australia. SHEDSAFE is an accreditation scheme managed by the Australian Steel Institute, designed to assist shed buyers in making an informed purchase decision.

SHEDSAFE accreditation is your guarantee as a shed buyer that:

THE Shed Company has undergone a review by an independent 3rd party.

This means that, samples of the designs and engineering (plans and structural calculations) used by THE Shed Company Franchisees and Distributors have been subjected to a design check and documentation review process. This has been undertaken by an independent 3rd party structural engineer and these have met the ShedSafe accreditation criteria.

THE Shed Company has assured their compliance.

This means that, THE Shed Company has signed and submitted documentation confirming that all our shed designs are in accordance with the Australian Steel Institute Design Guide Portal Frame Sheds and Garages (2009).

THE Shed Company will recommend a Shed Design suitable for your site location and use.

This means that, THE Shed Company Franchisees and Distributors have undertaken training and will recommend a shed with a design suitable for your specific site and building use. THE Shed Company supports this claim with ‘Site Specific Certification’. This means that every THE Shed Company building is specifically designed and engineered for the site at which the building will be constructed. Site specific engineering is a set of engineering documents that are provided by our engineer exclusively for your site. These are your assurance and peace of mind that the engineer has seen and certified your project.

THE Shed Company will consider Wind Loads.

This means that THE Shed Company Franchisees and Distributors have undertaken training to determine the correct application of Wind Loads for your site, based on the information supplied. The extensive THE Shed Company Edu Shed training systems provides THE Shed Company Franchisees and Distributors with the necessary knowledge and tools to be experts in this field.

SHEDSAFE accreditation cannot be purchased it has to be earned. THE Shed Company has been following ‘Shed Safe’ practices since its inception in 2005, hence the phrase ‘Discover THE Shed Company Difference’. The investment in our people via the Edu Shed training program, and the implementation of the Site Specific Certification process some years ago has ensured that these practices have been a ‘way of life’ for THE Shed Company for some time.

If your Shed supplier isn't SHEDSAFE Accredited you should ask yourself, why not?
