The Shed Company sheds are made from the highest quality Australian COLORBOND® steel guaranteed to stand the test of time with an up to 20 years material warranty.

COLORBOND® sheds are renowned for their durability and visual appeal. They are super easy to clean and maintain. To keep your shed looking its best follow these few simple steps!

Regular Maintenance

If your shed is not regularly washed by rainwater it should be hosed down with fresh clean water at least every six months. This should be done more frequently in coastal areas where marine salt spray is prevalent, and in areas where high levels of industrial fallout occur. Don't forget wall cladding under eaves, garage doors and the underside of eave gutters.

In cases where regular maintenance does not remove all dirt which may have adhered to the surface of the paint, try the below steps.

Step 1 - Wash

Wash the surface with a mild solution of pure soap or mild non-abrasive kitchen detergent in warm water.

Do this gently using a sponge, soft cloth or soft bristle nylon brush to prevent shiny spots. See below an example of how Scrub Daddy sponges can be used to clean COLORBOND® roofs without scratching them.

Pressure washers and excessive rubbing should be avoided. If you are needing to clean a large area, consider using a soft bristle broom. Never use abrasive or solvent type cleaners (turps, petrol, kerosene, paint thinners) on COLORBOND® steel.

Step 2 - Rinse

The COLORBOND® steel should be rinsed with clean water immediately after cleaning to remove traces of detergent.

Step 3 - Spot Cleaning (If Required)

In situations where the above steps have not been effective, COLORBOND® recommends spot cleaning using the below products which should be readily available from major supermarkets or hardware stores. Remember to test these products before use and follow the safety precautions and cleaning process outlined in COLORBOND®'s guide here.

  • Ajax® Spray n’ Wipe MultiPurpose Kitchen Cleaner
  • Windex® Original Glass Cleaner
  • Sabco® Heavy Duty Wet Workshop Towels
  • Selleys® The Original Sugar Soap.

Following these simple steps will not only keep your COLORBOND® shed in top condition but also preserve its aesthetic appeal for years to come. Regular cleaning is a small investment that pays off in the longevity and visual allure of your valuable COLORBOND® shed.

Remember to refer to BlueScope Steel's Technical Bulletins TB4 and TB4a for specific guidelines and always prioritise safety during the cleaning process.
